We’re thrilled to announce our Wags & Whiskers Pet Food Drive, happening October 20–31 at our Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago Libertyville office. This community fundraiser supports two local organizations doing incredible work for pets in need: Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry and Two Furs Rescue.
Why It Matters
Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry provides food to families already receiving government assistance, helping them keep their pets fed and at home. Two Furs Rescue, which I co-founded, specializes in caring for abandoned kittens under eight weeks old, the tiniest and most vulnerable age group.
By donating, you’re helping both families and rescue animals right here in Lake County. Every can, bag, or dollar truly makes a difference.
What We’re Collecting
For the pantry, any type of cat or dog food (no puppy or kitten food, please). Open bags and slightly expired food are also accepted.
Inexpensive brands from Dollar Tree or Walmart are preferred, since they’re closest to what many pets already eat.
Small pet food (rabbit, guinea pig, etc.) and pet toys are also welcome.
For Two Furs Rescue, we’re only collecting:
Purina Kitten Chow
Fancy Feast Kitten Wet Food
KMR Kitten Formula
Let’s fill the drawers and shelves with food for pets in need. There’s even a kitten waiting in one to make sure we do.

Daina Jacobson is a REALTOR® with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago who helps buyers and sellers navigate the real estate markets in Northern Lake County, Illinois, and southern Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Based in Wadsworth, Illinois, she specializes in homes with land, acreage properties, and homes served by private wells and septic systems.
Before entering real estate, Daina spent two decades working as a certified interpreter fluent in American Sign Language, a background that shaped her ability to listen carefully and guide clients through complex decisions with clarity.
When she’s not assisting clients, Daina devotes time to animal rescue as one of the co-founders of Two Furs Rescue. At home in Wadsworth she enjoys caring for her many animals, including cats, a dog, chickens, and ducks, while also planting and preserving native plants and trees around her property.
